NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR STRIP MINE PERMIT Notice is hereby given that WALKER BROHTERS MINING, INC., P.O. Box 583, Midlothian, Maryland 21543 (301) 268-6160 has submitted an application to the Maryland Bureau of Mines for a surface coal mine operations permit. The proposed operation occupies a/an 25 acre tract, near Midlothian Maryland on the Northeast side of Staub Run, 0.6 miles, West of Midlothian in Election District No. 19, Allegany County. N: 721,842 E: 759,628. Access to the site is from Fair View Farm Road, 0. Miles, West of Midlothian. Surface of the area to be mined is owned by: Walker Land Holdings, LLC, P.O. Box 583, Midlothian, MD 21543 & Allegany Coal & Land Company, P.O. Box 410, Frostburg, MD 21532. The mineral is owned by: Walker Land Holdings, LLC, P.O. Box 583, Midlothian, MD 21543 & Allegany Coal & Land Company, P.O. Box 410, Frostburg, MD 21532. The permit area is within the U.S. Geologic Survey Frostburg, Maryland 7.5 minute quadrangle. The location of the proposed permit area is indicated on the accompanying vicinity sketch. The application includes plans to construct 1 new pond to control sediment and storm water on the mining area. The ponds will be located within the proposed mine permit area. In addition to a surface coal mining permit, the construction of the ponds will require a separate small pond approval from the Bureau of Mines. A copy of the mine permit application, which includes the pond plans for the small pond approval, is available for public review during regular business hours at the Bureau of Mines office.
