NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The
Valdosta City Schools Board of Education
has tentatively adopted a 2018 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 1.14 percent. This is not a millage increase, as the rate will continue to be 16.98 which was adopted in 2010.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Valdosta City Schools Board of Education office building, 1204 Williams Street, Valdosta, GA on August 28, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 16.980 mills, an increase of. 191 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 16.789 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $6.49 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $22.92.
This tax increase is due to the reassessment of existing real property.
