RESOLUTION NO. 2016-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WOODWARD, OKLAHOMA, GIVING NOTICE TO THE SECRETARY OF THE WOODWARD COUNTY ELECTION BOARD CONCERNING THE APRIL 5, 2016, MUNICIPAL ELECTION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WOODWARD, OKLAHOMA, That notice shall be given by the City of Woodward to the Woodward County Election Board regarding the following Municipal Election: A. That Municipal Election is to be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, to elect Commissioners for Wards 2, 3, and At-Large. B. Qualifications for officers are: 1. Citizen of the United States. 2. Resident of the City of Woodward for two (2) years prior to election. 3. Twenty-five (25) years of age. 4. Elector of the City of Woodward. 5. Cannot be in litigation with the City of Woodward. 6. Cannot be in arrears for City taxes when elected. 7. Cannot be the owner of any stocks or bonds of any public service corporation doing business in or with the City of Woodward. 8. Candidates for Commissioner of a Ward must reside in that Ward. 9. Candidates for At-Large may reside in any Ward in the City of Woodward. C. All offices will be filled by voting at large. D. Absentee ballots shall be made available and absentee voting conducted in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of Oklahoma. E. The officers of Wards 2, 3, and At-Large, will be elected for two-year terms. F. Filing period shall begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016, and close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. G. Any contest to the qualifications of a candidate must be filed by written petition with the Secretary of the County Election Board no later than 5:00 p.m. on the second day following the filing period and must allege that the contested candidate was not qualified by law to become a candidate and the reasons therefore. That the City Clerk of the City of Woodward shall submit a copy of this Resolution to the Secretary of the Woodward County Election Board.
